Tourism and Events NT has developed minimum tourism amenity standards and signage guidelines to assist regional stakeholders, councils and organisations to improve the visitor experience when travelling to regional and remote areas.

Minimum Tourism Amenity Standards

The Minimum Tourism Amenity Standards set a consistent benchmark for towns and communities to enhance main streets and town centres for the benefit of local businesses, communities and visitors.

The standards cover key public amenities, visitor information and facilities that support welcoming, tourist-friendly towns. Regional councils and Northern Territory Government agencies are encouraged to apply the standards when planning projects or seeking funding for tourism development.

For more information view the Minimum Tourism Amenity Standards guide.

Signage Guidelines

The Signage Guidelines provide practical templates for tourism wayfinding and interpretive signage. Using these templates helps reduce design costs and promotes consistent signage across the Territory, creating a clearer and more enjoyable visitor experience.

Creative assets and InDesign templates are available in the Signage Guidelines document. All signage must meet relevant local and road reserve regulatory requirements, including the advertising and activities on road reserves.
