Bumper events calendar ahead as 41 events share funding

Darwin Lions Beer Can Regatta

An ’80s music celebration, ‘geek’ gathering, national swimming championship and Filipino festival are just some of the events to receive support through the latest round of the Event Funding Program (EFP) delivered by Northern Territory Major Events Company.

A total of 41 events across the Territory have secured support totalling more than $1.5 million, with several new kids on the block joining firm favourites such as the Alice Springs Beanie Festival, Chariots of Thunder Sprintcar Series and Darwin Pride Festival.

Four of the 41 events were successful under the Mass Participation category, developed to support events that will attract more than 300 visitors who will stay in paid accommodation for at least three nights. Two were successful under the Major Event category, designed to support events that deliver significant visitor economy impacts and reach large broadcast audiences.

A total of 53 events applied for funding. Successful events are chosen by an independent panel. To receive notification when the next EFP round opens, click here.
